Retention Treatment After Fixed Braces Treatment

The procedures performed after orthodontic treatment to maintain the achieved results are just as important as the treatment itself.

After the treatment, thin wires are bonded to the back surfaces of the upper and lower front teeth to prevent them from shifting back to their original positions. These wires are comfortable and discreet, making them unnoticeable.

These wires are called fixed retention wires. Additionally, removable retention appliances are prepared based on the final stage of the treatment.

ABOUT REINFORCEMENT THERAPY

After the completion of fixed braces treatment, retention therapy (retention treatment) is applied to maintain the new position of the teeth. During this process, patients are typically advised to use clear aligners (retainers) or fixed retention wires.

Retention treatment prevents the teeth from shifting back to their original positions, ensuring a permanent and healthy smile. The duration of use may vary for each patient, but it is generally recommended to wear the retainer constantly during the first few months, followed by wearing it at night. Regular use and doctor check-ups are the most important factors that enhance the success of the treatment.
